Automatic compensation for broadband faults and missed appointments

Signed-up providers must pay you automatically for slow repairs, missed engineer visits and delayed installs.

Most major UK providers are signed up to Ofcom’s automatic compensation scheme. You should get money back, without asking, if:

  • your service stops working and isn’t fixed within two full working days (paid per day);
  • an engineer misses an appointment or cancels with less than 24 hours’ notice;
  • your new service start date is delayed (paid per day).

Payment amounts rise each year with inflation — check your provider’s website or Ofcom for the current rates.
